Tanjim Rifat

Tanjim Ahmed Rifat (born 13 November 1996), commonly known as Tanjim Rifat (বাংলায়ঃ তানজিম রিফাত), is a Bangladeshi entrepreneur, media professional, writer, and philanthropist. He is the Managing Director of Agami Studios Limited, a venture-building company operating across media, content, and technology sectors. He is also the founder of Channel Agami, a digital media platform established in 2012, and Youth Nation, a youth-focused organization recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh.


Early Life and Background

Tanjim Rifat was born on 13 November 1996 in Uttampur village, Baruia Union of Rajapur Upazila, in the Jhalokati District of the Barisal Division, Bangladesh. He spent his early childhood (ages 0–4) in a rural environment before moving to Jhalokati town and later to Barishal city, where he spent most of his formative years.

He grew up in a humble family environment, which he credits for shaping his values of simplicity and humility. His father, a government servant, played a significant role in influencing his character through a disciplined and principled lifestyle.

Rifat was also influenced by the literary and cultural environment of Barishal, including the works of Bengali poet Jibanananda Das. During his early years, he developed a strong interest in reading literature, including works by Rabindranath Tagore, Humayun Ahmed, Samaresh Majumdar, and Arthur C. Clarke. He also read popular series such as Tin Goenda and Feluda, which contributed to his imagination and storytelling abilities.

He completed his schooling at Barishal Zilla School, one of the oldest educational institutions in the region.


Education

Rifat pursued his secondary and higher secondary education in science, completing his SSC from Barishal Zilla School and HSC from Syed Hatem Ali College, Barishal.

He later enrolled in Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, where he studied Computer Science and Engineering.

During his academic years, he received scholarships in the talent pool category in Class 5, Class 8, SSC, and HSC examinations. In 2015, he also completed an entrepreneurship development program under the ICT Division at the University of Dhaka.


Early Career and Entrepreneurial Beginnings

Rifat began his entrepreneurial journey at an early age, engaging in small-scale business activities during his school years. He later entered the field of freelancing, working in web development and content writing during his secondary education.

His interest in media and storytelling developed during his college years, when he began experimenting with photography and creative writing, including poetry and short stories. This creative inclination led him toward content creation and digital media.


Channel Agami

Rifat founded Channel Agami on 7 July 2012, initially as a Facebook-based initiative alongside a group of peers, including collaborator SM Marzan Ivan. The platform was established with the aim of amplifying youth voices and promoting creative expression.

In its early years, Channel Agami collaborated with educational institutions as a media partner and produced various content formats. Notable initiatives included programs such as Openty Bioscope, which promoted emerging filmmakers, and Rokomari Adda, which featured interviews with prominent literary figures including Ahsan Habib, Imdadul Haq Milan, and Anisul Hoque.

The platform also launched Go te Golpokar(গ তে গল্পকার), an online writing competition that culminated in the publication of a book at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. Channel Agami’s website was launched in 2014, developed independently by Rifat.

Despite financial challenges, the platform continued to operate through contributions from its members. Channel Agami received media coverage from outlets such as Jamuna TV, Ittefaq, and Prothom Alo, and collaborated with initiatives including TEDx.

Creative Work

Rifat is also a writer and creative professional. He began writing poetry and short stories during his school years, drawing inspiration from everyday life, nature, and the experiences of ordinary people.

His works have been published on digital platforms and in print, including contributions to Kishor Alo and publications at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair.

In addition to writing, Rifat has worked as a director and scriptwriter for television and digital commercials for brands such as Steadfast Courier, Bahok, Foton, Jadroo.com, and ACI Water Pumps. He has also been involved in the production of television dramas.

He contributed to the promotional and marketing efforts of the film Chokkor 402, directed by Saraf Ahmed Jibon.


Youth Nation

In 2024, Rifat founded Youth Nation, a youth-focused organization recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh. The organization focuses on youth empowerment, social impact, and community development.

Its activities include environmental initiatives such as cleaning urban waterways in Dhaka, distribution of winter clothing through programs like Ushnotar Chhoya, and entrepreneurship training programs for young individuals.
